Nursing Student

As a nursing student myself, we are taught the importance every day of the legal implications of nursing and patient safety. Seeing the Government of Nova Scotia is siding with Capital Health is disrespectful to the nursing profession, and shows a clear sign that this government does not truly care about patient safety in Nova Scotia. Why should nurses have to work day in and day out knowing they are putting themselves, their patients and their profession on the line?

In this case it’s not about the money, it’s about nurses doing what’s right and ensuring there patients are safe, with nurse to patient ratios. I’ve never been more disappointed to call myself a liberal as I was last night at 7 p.m. What makes me more disappointed are the fines your government is imposing on nurses and there unions. Capital Health has imposed unsafe working conditions for the nurse and the patient, to my knowledge no other job site in this country would allow that.

I hope your government is able to do the right thing.
